BIOSAR Meta (Metarhizium anisopliae), an entomopathogenic fungus, is a disease-causing parasite widely used to control lepidopteron pests in agricultural crops. Once it germinates on the insect surface or host, it grows directly through the spiracle into the inner body of the host. Draining the fungus nutrients and eventually killing it, the mycelium of this fungus produces a cyclodepsipeptide toxin called bassianolide and other insecticidal toxins such as dipicolinic acid. It effectively controls pests such as borers, cutworms, root grubs, leaf hoppers, whiteflies, aphids, thrips, rust fungi, scale insects, mealy bugs, etc.
